About Pamela Andrews,

Pamela Andrews is an experienced performer and has appeared as a soloist with The Metropolitan Orchestra, Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, Penrith Symphony Orchestra, SCUNA/National Capital Orchestra, Hobart Chamber Orchestra, Derwent Symphony Orchestra, Hobart Orpheus Choir, Tasmania University Musical Society, Hobart Festival of Voices Choir and City of Launceston Carols by Candlelight. Repertoire performed includes Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Requiem, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Handel’s Messiah and Dvorak’s Stabat Mater. Pamela enjoys performing new works, and has premiered new repertoire by Paul Smith, Geoffrey Lancaster, Graeme Leak, Matthew Dewey, Joe Bugden, Johanna Van Tienen, Sophie Joo and Haomin Wei.

Pamela holds a Master of Music degree (ANU), Bachelor degree with Honours (UTAS), Diploma of Music (UTAS) and Associate Diploma of Music (AMEB). Pamela also holds a Master of Arts & Entertainment Management degree (AIM), and Graduate Diploma in Arts Management (AIM). Pamela has won numerous prizes and awards in competitions around Australia and was nominated for a Director’s Prize at the University of Tasmania. Pamela was a Young Artist with Pacific Opera, and has studied singing with many talented teachers and coaches including Marilyn Smith, Jane Edwards, Louise Page, Christine Douglas and Deborah Humble. Pamela currently studies with Donna Balson. In 2018 and 2019, she was a Finalist in the Sydney Song Prize adjudicated by Maestro Richard Bonynge AC CBE, a Semi-Finalist in the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship, and one of six finalists chosen for the Open Operatic Aria at the BlueScope WIN Wollongong Eisteddfod.

Opera roles performed include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni (Opera Hunter), Arminda in La finta giardiniera (Operantics), Countess Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro (Pacific Opera, Operantics), Natasha in The Gondoliers Dream Getaway (Pacific Opera), Belinda and Second Woman in Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas (various companies). Professional chorus experience includes fully staged productions of Aida, Anna Bolena, Attila, Carmen, Don Giovanni, Ernani, Faust, Götterdämmerung, La bohème, La juive, La traviata, Le nozze di Figaro, Lohengrin, Madama Butterfly, Otello, The Tales of Hoffmann, Tosca and Turandot with Opera Australia, concert performances of Maria Stuarda, Mefistofele, Roberto Devereux, Satyagraha and La gioconda, also with Opera Australia, and Carmen, La traviata and Tosca with Melbourne Opera. Pamela was a cover for the Four Pages in Wagner’s Lohengrin with Jonas Kaufmann, and had a featured role in “Chorus!” at Opera Australia.

Pamela is highly experienced in corporate events and has been engaged to sing at many high-profile dinners, gala fundraisers and outdoor events. Pamela has performed with Sydney-based professional entertainers Christmas Troubelles, The Jingle Belles, Pacific Opera, The Seven Sopranos and Sopranos On Stage.

In 2018 and 2019, Pamela performed in the Tasmanian Scenic Opera Tour, performing concerts around the island state in unique settings and historical buildings. Pamela prepared several concert projects in the past couple of difficult COVID-19 years, including Russian Rendezvous with pianist Natalia Raspopova and singers Nathan Bryon, Daniel Macey, and Jill Sullivan, and Ariadne’s Thread, a concert of German Romantic repertoire for the Wagner Society in NSW with pianist Michael Curtain and mezzo-soprano Jill Sullivan.

More recently, as Sydney theatre reopened, Pamela accepted full-time work with Opera Australia and became an adjudicator with Sydney Eisteddfod. Pamela is enjoying another busy year of concerts and opera in 2023, and is working on releasing her first album recordings in 2024.
